How many of Steam's most played games support a controller?
On the chart day, 46 of the 95 games in the top 100 declare full controller support and 26 partial support; 23 declare none. 45 list DualSense support. On the Steam Deck, 36 are Verified and 37 Playable. 30 are free to play, and 50 have a Keymap controls page, lab or guide. The other 5 entries are software rather than games.
How this list is built
The order is Steam's own most-played chart: the 100 games with the highest peak of players in the game on the chart day, with the change against last week's rank. For each game we read the Steam store page — genres, release year, price in US dollars, and the input support the developer declares — and the Steam Deck compatibility report. The list is rebuilt before every update of this site, several times a day; the player counts are the chart day's peak, not a live number.
What "controller support" means here
"Full" and "partial" are the developer's own declaration on the store page. "None declared" means the developer has not declared support, not that a pad cannot work: Steam Input can map a controller onto almost any game's keyboard and mouse. DualSense means the store lists DualSense support; Deck Verified, Playable and Unsupported are Valve's own review.
Before you pick up a pad
Check every button and stick reports with the gamepad tester, look for drift with the stick drift test, and open the game's controls page for the default layout on keyboard and on each controller.
