What DPI is my mouse?
Press "Check my mouse" and pick your mouse. If it speaks the open Logitech HID++ protocol, the page shows the DPI it is set to right now, the polling rate and the battery. For any other mouse, the DPI test measures the real value by moving the mouse a known distance.

Neither on its own. What matters is DPI multiplied by in-game sensitivity. 800 and 1600 are the two most common choices because sensors are tuned around them; pick one and set the game sensitivity to match your desk space.

Profiles. Mouse software can switch DPI per game or per button press, and Windows pointer speed adds its own scaling on the desktop. Read the setting with the game open, then measure the real value.
What the result actually measures
The checker opens the mouse or its receiver over WebHID and sends read-only HID++ 2.0 requests: device name, firmware, current DPI and the DPI range, current polling rate and the rates the firmware offers, and the battery level with its charging state. If your Device Passport already holds a DPI or polling measurement for the same mouse, the page compares the setting with the measurement and names the gap.
Measurement boundary: Only mice that expose an open read protocol can be asked; today that is Logitech HID++ 2.0 (G series, Lightspeed and Unifying receivers, most MX mice). Vendor software such as G HUB can hold the device on Windows and must be closed. The values are the active profile as reported by the firmware; the page cannot see per-game profiles that software swaps in later.
How to interpret the output
DPI right now
The sensor resolution the mouse is using at this moment. Most players settle on 800 or 1600; higher is not better, it only changes how much in-game sensitivity you need.
Polling rate
How many times per second the mouse reports. 1000 Hz is the standard gaming setting; 2000–8000 Hz modes exist on newer mice and need a compatible receiver.
Reality check
Within 3% between setting and measurement is normal tolerance. Bigger gaps usually come from pointer acceleration, browser zoom or a sloppy ruler rather than the sensor.
Troubleshooting unexpected results
The mouse is not in the dialog
The browser lists devices, not brands. Look for the mouse name or "USB Receiver"; on Windows, close G HUB and Onboard Memory Manager, which take exclusive access.
It says the mouse did not answer
Move the mouse to wake it, pick the receiver rather than the mouse if both appear, and try a different USB port. Very old mice use HID++ 1.0 and only report battery.
My brand is not supported
Razer, SteelSeries, Pulsar and others use private protocols. Their DPI and polling can still be measured with the DPI analyzer and the polling test.
Frequently asked questions
Can this change my mouse settings?
No. The page only sends read requests. It cannot write DPI, profiles, lighting or macros, and it cannot affect the warranty.
Does it work on a phone or in Safari or Firefox?
No. Reading a mouse needs WebHID, which is available in Chrome, Edge and Opera on desktop computers.
What if the reading and the measurement disagree?
A few percent is sensor tolerance plus your measuring error. More than 8% usually means pointer acceleration or scaling is active somewhere; the troubleshooting list on the DPI analyzer walks through it.
Can a chatbot tell me my mouse DPI?
