Settings that change how the bindings feel

Recommended starting settings

Dead by Daylight is two games and it gives them two sets of numbers: killer is first person and turns, survivor is third person and watches backwards. The setting that changed the most is newer than most guides — a killer field-of-view slider the game shipped without for seven years.

Camera Sensitivity — Killer 70 – 85% 0 – 100%

Killer is first person and has to turn through a full circle when a survivor breaks behind you at a pallet. Higher than you would run in a shooter, for a reason that has nothing to do with aim: you are turning, not aiming. PC

Camera Sensitivity — Survivor 45 – 60% 0 – 100%

A separate slider, and the fact that it is separate is the setting. Survivor is third person and spends a chase looking backwards at a steady speed, so the number that suits killer makes the camera sick to watch here. PC

Controller Sensitivity — Horizontal / Vertical Separate sliders 0 – 100%

Two axes rather than one, which matters here more than in most games: chases are horizontal and nothing in this game needs a fast vertical. Raising horizontal alone turns faster without making the camera lurch when you look down at a hook. Controller

Crouch Mobility Hold HoldToggle

Survivor only. Hold suits a chase, where crouching is a dodge measured in half seconds; toggle suits a stealth build, where you are down for a minute at a time. This is a genuine split rather than a right answer.

Vibration Off OnOff

Dead by Daylight rumbles on the skill check, which sounds like help and is not: the rumble arrives with the check rather than before it, and the hand it moves is the one holding the button. Controller

Killer only, and the game shipped without it for seven years. At 87 a survivor hugging your shoulder at a loop is genuinely off screen; at 103 they are not. If you play killer and have never opened this slider, it is the largest single change available to you.

Dead by Daylight runs one control scheme over two games. The keys never move, but as a survivor they repair and hide, and as the killer the identical keys attack and destroy. A single keybind list cannot tell you that, which is why the controls feel unfamiliar the first time you swap roles even after a hundred hours.

Space is the one to think about. As a survivor it vaults, drops pallets and answers skill checks, so in a chase the same key is doing your movement and your timing minigame at once — which is exactly when a mistimed press costs the loop. Nothing fixes that by rebinding, because all three uses want a key your thumb can hit instantly. What does help is the setting above the keys: crouch on toggle for long stealth, on hold for quick evasions, and a separate, higher sensitivity for killer, where a 360 spin is a real move rather than a mistake.
