Marvel Rivals controls & keybinds

Marvel Rivals follows the hero shooter convention with abilities on Shift, E and a third key, the ultimate on Q and team-up abilities on C. Heroes with flight or wall-crawling reuse Space and Shift, so each hero page in the game shows its own overrides.

Recommended starting settings

Marvel Rivals asks one hand to play a duelist who needs flick aim and a vanguard who needs steady tracking, and the settings below are how you stop tuning for one and ruining the other.

Controls

Mouse sensitivity 30 – 50 cm per 360°

The number that matters is not the slider, it is how far your hand travels for a full turn. Most of the field lands between 30 and 50 centimetres at 800 DPI. Measure it once on your own pad and the slider stops being a guess. PC

Scoped / ADS sensitivity 70 – 90% of hip-fire 1 – 100%

Precision heroes feel twitchy at parity. Dropping to around 80% gives finer control while still letting you correct against something moving — going much lower and you cannot follow a flyer at all.

Aim Sensitivity Curve Linear LinearDual-Zone S-CurveExponential

Controller only. Linear is the honest one — stick tilt maps straight to turn rate, so what you learn transfers. The S-curve gives a slow centre and a fast edge, which suits players coming from other hero shooters and confuses everyone else. Controller

Aim Assist On OnOff

Controller only and on by default. Worth checking rather than assuming, because it silently does nothing on a pad the game has not recognised — which is the first thing to test if aiming feels unassisted. Controller

Third-person camera side Match the hero

The camera sits off one shoulder, so the same crosshair sees a different amount of cover on each side. On heroes you peek with, the side is a real choice and not a cosmetic one.

Reach check · your keyboard, this game

Can your board actually play Marvel Rivals?

Every default bind, re-scored against the keyboard you own. Distance is measured from the left hand resting on WASD, because that is where it stays while you play.

A 60% board has every key Marvel Rivals asks for. 1 of its 21 default binds still need the left hand to leave WASD, so the board is not what holds you back here — the layout is. How that compares with every other game.

On the keys
your hand is already there
Comfortable
a finger moves, the hand does not
Stretch
the hand lifts, movement wobbles
Off movement
you let go of A and D to press it
Not on this board
the key does not physically exist

Reach uses the same key geometry as BindIQ, which can rebuild the whole layout for you once you know what is out of reach. Mouse buttons always count as reachable — your right hand is already there.

Marvel Rivals control lab

Half the roster plays in three dimensions

Marvel Rivals is not one control scheme with different abilities on top. Pick a flying hero and the movement keys stop being movement keys: Space becomes a throttle you hold rather than a jump you tap, and height becomes something you manage for the whole fight. Nothing in a keybind list tells you that, and it is the single biggest adjustment when you switch heroes.

KeyOn the groundIn the airWhat changes
SpaceJump — tapped, and you land immediatelyHeld to rise, released to fallThe same key goes from a tap to a hold you maintain for the whole engagement. Flight heroes have no jump at all
Left CtrlCrouchDescendWorth setting to toggle on flight heroes: holding a key to lose height for ten seconds is a real hand cost
W / A / S / DTwo dimensionsTwo dimensions plus whatever Space and Ctrl are doingYour aim is now doing the work movement usually does — height changes what you can see and be seen by
CTeam-up abilityTeam-up abilityThe only key on the board whose availability depends on someone else: it does nothing unless a partner hero is on your team
Left ShiftAbility 1 — usually a dash or a shieldAbility 1 — often a dash that keeps your altitudeThe same input reads completely differently once falling is a thing that happens to you
QUltimateUltimateThe one key that means the same thing on every hero in the game

If you play both kinds of hero, set crouch to toggle. It costs nothing on the ground and removes a permanently held key in the air, which is where hands actually get tired. Move the team-up off C as well — it is a stretch from W and it is used at the exact moment a fight starts, when your hand is least free. Beyond that, flight is not a control problem to solve but a habit to build: the players who look untouchable in the air are managing height the way ground players manage cover.

Quick answers

What are the ability keys in Marvel Rivals?

Left Shift, E and F for abilities 1–3, Q for the ultimate and C for the team-up ability. On controller they are LB/L1, RB/R1, X/Square, both bumpers for ultimate and Y/Triangle for team-up.

How do I fly with Iron Man or Storm?

Hold Space to rise and Left Ctrl to descend; on controller hold Cross/A and Circle/B. Flight heroes cap their speed, so use Ability 1 for bursts.

How do I ping in Marvel Rivals?

Middle mouse (D-pad Up). Hold it for the wheel; aim at an enemy before pressing to mark them for the team.

Can I set per-hero keybinds?

Yes: Settings › Keyboard has a hero selector; each hero keeps its own layout and sensitivity, which is useful for flying and wall-crawling heroes.

What is a team-up ability?

A bonus ability unlocked when specific heroes are on the same team; it uses C (Triangle/Y) and shows an icon above the ability bar when active.
