Rocket League camera settings, seen before you set them.

Move the sliders the way they move in Settings › Camera and watch the pitch from that camera: how big your car sits on screen, how much of the view is ground, and how high the ball can go before it leaves the top.

The pitch loads when it scrolls into view.

From the side: the camera, its view, the car, and a ball 500 uu ahead at the height where it would leave the top of your screen.

Sizes are the RLBot project’s documented game values (ball radius 92.75 uu, Octane 118 × 84 × 36 uu). The camera is a plain model of what each setting describes — FOV as the horizontal view on a 16:9 screen, Distance and Height from the car, Angle as the tilt — not Psyonix’s own camera code. Stiffness is drawn as how far the camera stretches back at speed. Swivel speed and transition speed only change how fast the camera turns with the right stick and swaps to ball cam, so they are not drawn.

Camera settings, straight answers

The questions the camera-settings search results ask, answered with what the view above shows.

What are the best camera settings for Rocket League?

Most camera guides give the same ranges: FOV 110, distance 260–280, height 90–110, angle −3 to −5, stiffness 0.3–0.6, and camera shake off. They are conventions, not rules — the view on this page shows what each one changes, so you can pick inside the range with your eyes instead of from a list.

What should my FOV be in Rocket League?

110, the maximum, is what nearly every guide and most experienced players use: it shows the most of the pitch around the car. Lower values bring the car closer and make it bigger on screen, at the cost of what you can see at the sides.

What is the best camera distance in Rocket League?

Guides usually give 260–280. A shorter distance makes your car larger on screen and easier to control on the ground; a longer one shows more of the play around you. Move the Distance slider on this page and watch your car’s share of the screen change.

What is the best camera angle in Rocket League?

Usually −3 to −5: a slight tilt down. A steeper angle shows more ground and helps with dribbling, but a ball in the air leaves the top of the screen sooner — the number on this page tells you how high a ball 500 uu ahead can go before it does.

What does camera stiffness do?

It decides how firmly the camera holds its distance as the car speeds up. Low stiffness lets the camera fall back more at speed, which feels fast but moves the picture; high stiffness keeps it fixed. Guides usually suggest 0.3–0.6.

What do swivel speed and transition speed do?

Swivel speed is how fast the camera turns when you look around with the right stick; transition speed is how fast it swaps between ball cam and car cam. Both are preferences about motion, not about what is in view, so they are not drawn here.

Should camera shake be on or off?

Off. It shakes the picture on every hit and landing, and every one of those is already visible without it.
