Quick answers
What are the four Tekken buttons?
The four limbs. 1 is left punch, 2 is right punch, 3 is left kick, 4 is right kick, and on a PlayStation pad they ship on Square, Triangle, Cross and Circle in that order. Every move in the game is a direction plus some combination of those four.
What is a just frame in Tekken 8?
A move where an input has to land on one exact frame rather than inside a window. The Electric Wind God Fist is the famous one: the punch has to register on the same frame as the down-forward direction. At 60 frames per second that frame is about 16.7 milliseconds wide, which is why it is the skill ceiling everyone talks about.
Why can't I do the Electric Wind God Fist?
Almost always because your two inputs are not landing together. It is not a reaction problem and it is not a controller problem for most people — it is a coordination problem between one thumb and one finger, and it is measurable. The bench on the hub page times the gap between your own two inputs and shows how many of them would have landed on the same frame.
Does Heat remove the just-frame requirement?
Yes, for the duration. While a player is in Heat, just-frame requirements are waived in exchange for a portion of the Heat bar — which is Tekken 8 quietly acknowledging how hard they are.
What is Special Style in Tekken 8?
A simplified control scheme on L1 that puts combos and specials on single buttons instead of on directions plus limb buttons. It can be toggled at any moment, including mid-match, so it works as a training wheel you take off one situation at a time rather than a mode you commit to.
Is Tekken 8 better on a pad, a stick or a keyboard?
For the just frame specifically, what matters is whether your direction and your attack can be produced independently — which is why leverless boards are popular for it, since every input is its own button under its own finger. A pad works; the thumb has to roll the d-pad and the finger has to arrive at the same instant. The bench measures the result rather than arguing the hardware.
How do you block in Tekken 8?
You hold back, or you do nothing. There is no block button. Standing still blocks highs and mids automatically, holding back does the same while retreating, and holding down-back blocks lows and mids while highs pass over your head. The cost is that blocking and walking backwards are the same input, so every step back is also a commitment.
How do you crouch in Tekken 8?
Hold down to crouch, or down-back to crouch and block at the same time. Crouching is a state rather than a button, which is why move lists write FC for a move that needs you already crouching and ws for one done in the frames while you rise back up.
How do you dodge in Tekken 8?
You sidestep: tap up or down to step off the axis, or hold either one to sidewalk. Dashing forward is not a dodge — it walks you into the attack. Which side beats a given move depends on that move's tracking, and 178 moves in the game are homing, meaning they follow you and cannot be stepped at all.
How do you run in Tekken 8?
Tap forward twice and hold the third: f,f,F. A single f,f is a dash. How far you run changes what the run turns into, so the same input produces a different attack at different distances.
How do you do a Rage Art in Tekken 8?
Down-forward and both punches — df+1+2, written R.df+1+2 because it only exists while you are in Rage. On a pad it also sits on R2, and on Xbox on RT. All 42 characters have one. Rage itself has no input: it arrives on its own when your health drops low enough.
How do you use Heat in Tekken 8?
Heat Burst is both punch buttons plus left kick — 2+3, or R1 on PlayStation and RB on Xbox — and it starts Heat. Once you are in Heat those same buttons become Heat Smash, which spends it. You can also enter Heat by landing a Heat Engager instead: 219 moves across the roster do that, and the number each character carries is on their frame page.
What is the Korean backdash in Tekken 8?
A way to backdash without ever paying for it. A plain b,b has the longest recovery of any movement in the game, so the Korean backdash cancels each one into a crouch-dash input and immediately starts another — b,b~db,b~db,b and onwards. The recovery never plays, so you cover far more ground than repeated backdashes and stay threatening the whole way.
What does ws4 mean in Tekken 8?
While standing, right kick. A ws move is one done in the handful of frames while you rise out of a crouch, and ws4 specifically is the standard answer to a blocked low — 41 of the 42 characters have one. It is not a separate button: you crouch, you release, and the kick comes out during the rise.
How do you break throws in Tekken 8?
Press 1, 2, or 1+2 as the throw lands. Which one works is decided by the animation rather than by the side the throw came from, and 1+2 breaks the two-handed ones. There are 677 throws across the roster, so recognising the animation is the whole skill.
