Flight combat · Bandai Namco Aces Inc.

A flight stick is read every frame, not when you flick it.

Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve unlocks worldwide at one moment on 1 October 2026, 15:00 Pacific — 2 October in Europe and Japan — with Deluxe buyers flying three days earlier. A flight game asks something of a controller that no shooter does: it reads the stick's whole travel, continuously, rather than sampling where it ended up. Fly your own stick on this page, then take the two numbers that decide how a plane feels into launch night.

Launch moment: Thursday, 1 October 2026 at 22:00 UTC, the same instant everywhere. One instant worldwide: 1 October at 15:00 Pacific, which is 2 October at 00:00 in central Europe and 07:00 in Japan. Steam shows 1 October because the store reads the same moment on a Pacific clock.

Flight bench

Fly your own stick, before the game exists

The aircraft below is flown by the controller in your hands right now. What it is really showing you is whether the stick still rests at centre and whether it still reaches the corners — the two things that decide how a flight game feels, and the two things a worn stick loses first.

Attitude · your stick

Waiting for a controller
Roll0%
Pitch0%
Resting offset
Peak reach0%

Hold the stick still for a few seconds: resting offset is how far from centre it actually sits, and in a flight game that offset is a permanent gentle turn. Then sweep it to every corner — peak reach under about 93% means the gate is clipping your full deflection.

Runs entirely in this tab. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored, and no claim is made about how Ace Combat 8 itself will handle your input — the game is not out. What it measures is your own hardware, which is the half you can fix before launch day.

Unlock time

When Ace Combat 8 unlocks where you are

One instant, read on eleven clocks. In 4 regions the local calendar still says a different day when it happens.

Because it is one moment rather than a midnight in each region, switching your console or store region buys you nothing — there is no zone that reaches it first. The countdown above is this same instant read on your own device's clock.

Why the stick matters more hereAnalogue, continuously

A shooter reads where your stick ended up. A flight game reads where it is, every frame — so drift and an unusable outer range are felt for the whole flight rather than for one shot.

Quick answers

When does Ace Combat 8 unlock where I am?

At one instant everywhere: 1 October 2026 at 15:00 Pacific, which is 22:00 UTC, 2 October at 00:00 in central Europe and 07:00 in Japan. The table on this page reads that moment on eleven clocks, including the regions where the calendar still says 1 October when it happens.

Why do Steam and Bandai Namco give different dates?

They do not. Steam shows 1 October because a store page renders the unlock on the viewer's own clock and Valve is on Pacific time; Bandai Namco announces 2 October because that is the date in Japan and most of Europe. It is the same moment — switching store region cannot move it earlier.

Does the Deluxe edition really let me play first?

Yes, three days: 28 September at 15:00 Pacific, the same clock time as the public unlock. That is the full game rather than a trial, which is also why a stick problem found on the 28th costs you three days of flying rather than being discovered at launch.

Will a HOTAS work?

The series has supported flight sticks, but the launch device list for this entry has not been published and this page will not guess at it. What you can check today is whether your browser sees every axis your device reports, which is the first thing that has to be true.

What should I test before launch night?

Resting centre, outer range and deadzone floor — about five minutes in total, none of it needing the game. The bench on this page does the first two while you fly the aircraft with your own stick.
