Quick answers
How do you fly the helicopter in Earth Defense Force 5?
Hold L2 (Space on PC) and wait: the rotor needs a few seconds to spin up before the helicopter lifts. Keep holding to climb and let go to sink — there is no button to go down, so you hover by balancing the two. The left stick tilts the body and the lift tilts with it, which is what moves you; the right stick turns. To stop, tilt the other way, and in general input half of what you want and let the inertia finish it.
What are the helicopter controls on PC?
Space climbs, W and S tilt forward and back, A and D tilt to the sides and the mouse turns. Mouse 1 fires the main weapon and Mouse 2 the second one. E gets you in and out.
What are the helicopter controls on PlayStation?
L2 climbs (hold), the left stick tilts, the right stick turns, R2 fires the main weapon and R1 the second one. Circle gets you in and out.
Why does my helicopter keep crashing?
Usually too much input. The rotor takes seconds to spin up and the body keeps moving after you let go, so a full tilt keeps building speed. Use half the tilt you think you need and counter-tilt early to stop. Fuel burns fastest while climbing, and landing fast damages the helicopter.
How do the four classes control differently?
The Ranger and the Air Raider share a layout: R2 fires, L1 zooms, L2 jumps, R1 swaps weapons. The Wing Diver holds L2 to fly and presses L3 to boost. The Fencer is the odd one: each trigger fires one arm, L1 and R1 use each arm's equipment, Cross jumps and Triangle swaps weapons.
How do you dodge roll in EDF 5?
As a Ranger or Air Raider, jump while moving sideways: L2 with the left stick held left or right, or Space with A or D on PC.
Can you change the controls?
Yes. Key Config has its own list for every soldier, every vehicle and quick chat, on keyboard and on controller. On PC the method you pick at the title screen is the one you play the session with.
What are the controls on Switch 2?
D3Publisher has not published the Switch 2 default layout; it says the button layout and the dash were reworked to match EDF 6. Every class's buttons can be changed on their own in the options, and gyro aiming works in handheld mode and on the Switch 2 Pro Controller. Until the layout is published, this page gives the Switch buttons in the same positions as the PlayStation ones.
