Everybody has a direction they aim badly. Which is yours?

A thumb is not equally good all the way round. Where the phone sits in your hands decides which arcs follow the thumb's pivot and which ones cross it — and the ones that cross are measurably worse. In a game that puts you on both sides of the map, that is a whole sector of skill shots you are quietly losing. This page asks you for every direction in turn and draws the answer.

01 / The aim rose

Same drag, all the way round

The page asks for one direction at a time. Drag out of the button towards it the way you would aim a skill shot, and release. What is being measured is not whether you are accurate — it is whether you are equally accurate in every direction, which almost nobody is.

Drag towards the arrow and let go.

Further out is worse. A round shape is an even hand; a dent is a sector you are losing.

Aim at the arrow, all the way round

The page will ask you for a direction, one at a time, around the whole circle. Drag out of the button towards it the way you would aim a skill shot, and release.

Why this one needs no game data at all Because the finding is a comparison between your own directions. This page does not know how Mobile Legends turns a drag into a cast angle and does not need to — if your thumb is fifteen degrees worse towards one corner than towards another, that gap is in your hand and it survives whatever the game does with it afterwards.
02 / The change that costs nothing

Two thumbs cannot move and cast

This is the structural point behind every “pro settings” video and it has nothing to do with settings. With two thumbs, reaching a skill means the thumb that was moving you is doing something else — so you stop walking at the exact moment you commit to a fight. An index finger on the skill cluster removes that entirely, and it is free.

Two thumbs
  • Left thumb: movement joystick
  • Right thumb: every skill, plus basic attack
  • Cannot move and cast in the same instant
  • Simplest, and what almost everyone starts with
Thumbs plus an index
  • Left thumb: movement joystick
  • Right index: skills
  • Right thumb: basic attack and the rest
  • Movement never stops during a cast
Check your screen can do it first Three simultaneous contacts is more than some budget panels will track, and past the limit the newest one is simply dropped — which in game looks exactly like the skill button not responding. The contact bench on this site counts what your screen actually reports, and it takes about ten seconds.
03 / The settings, without the “best”

Move the buttons before you resize them

Read from the verified entry behind /controls/mobile-legends/. The advice everywhere is to make skill buttons bigger. Position matters more: a button sitting in a direction your thumb aims well in beats a bigger button in one it does not, and the rose above is how you find out which is which.

Custom UI Settings › Controls

Moves and resizes every button, including the joystick. The most valuable change for most players is not making buttons bigger — it is moving the skill cluster towards whichever direction their thumb aims worst in.

Tap versus drag casting Both, on every skill

A tap casts at the game's chosen target. A drag casts in the direction you pulled. They are two different inputs on the same button, and only the second one lands a skill shot on a moving target.

Cancel cast Drag into the cancel zone

A drag-cast released inside the cancel region is thrown away. Worth knowing where yours sits, because it occupies screen your thumb travels across.

Joystick type Fixed / floating

Floating puts the movement stick wherever the thumb lands, which suits a phone that sits differently each session; fixed suits muscle memory.

Finger count Two thumbs, or thumbs plus index

Using an index finger for skills lets you keep moving while you cast, which two thumbs cannot do. It is the single biggest structural change available, and it costs nothing.

A dent is a layout problem

If one sector is consistently worse, practice will not close it — the arc physically crosses your thumb's joint. Moving the skill cluster a little towards that side rotates the whole rose with it, which is a change you make once rather than a habit you drill.

A lean is a habit

If every direction is off by the same amount the same way, that is the thumb pivoting rather than a blind spot — and a constant offset is the easiest thing a hand can learn to cancel. Aim that much the other way on purpose and it goes.

Hold it the same way

This measurement is sensitive to grip, which is the point of it. Run the rose the way you actually sit when you play, not carefully at a desk, or you will tune your layout for a hand position you never use.

Straight answers

Why do my skill shots keep missing in one direction?+

Because a thumb is not equally good all the way round. Where the phone sits in your hands decides which arcs follow the thumb’s pivot and which ones cross it, and the ones that cross are measurably worse. Almost every player has a sector like this and almost none of them know which one it is — the lab on this page asks you for each direction in turn and draws the result as a rose. A dent in the shape is the sector you are quietly losing.

How do you aim skills in Mobile Legends?+

Drag out of the skill button in the direction you want it to go, then release. Tapping instead casts at whatever the game picks as the target, which is fine for a skill that cannot miss and useless for a skill shot against something that is moving.

Should I use two thumbs or three fingers in Mobile Legends?+

Three is structurally better and costs nothing to try. With two thumbs, reaching a skill means the thumb that was moving you is doing something else — so you stop walking at the exact moment you commit to a fight. An index finger on the skill cluster removes that entirely. Check your screen tracks three contacts first: some budget panels do not, and past the limit the newest contact is dropped, which looks exactly like the button not responding.

What is the best custom HUD for Mobile Legends?+

The one that fits your hands, which nobody else can tell you. The principle worth taking from any guide is that moving the skill cluster is usually worth more than resizing it: a button in a direction your thumb aims well in beats a bigger button in one it does not. Measure your own directions first and then move the buttons towards the weak side.

How do I cancel a skill in Mobile Legends?+

Drag the skill and release inside the cancel region rather than pointing it at a target. It is worth knowing exactly where that region sits on your layout, because it occupies screen your thumb crosses on the way to some directions — a drag that passes through it is a skill you did not cast.

Can I fix a bad aiming direction with practice?+

Only partly, and this is the useful distinction. If every direction is off by the same amount the same way, that is your thumb pivoting from a fixed joint, and a constant offset is the easiest thing a hand can learn to cancel. If one sector is much worse than the rest, the arc physically crosses your thumb’s joint and practice will not close it — that one is fixed by moving the buttons, not by drilling.

Does Mobile Legends support a controller?+

The game is built for touch and the control surface is the screen itself, which is why the verified entry on this site records settings and layout rather than a button list.

Does this page need to know how the game turns a drag into a cast?+

No, and that is what makes this one unusually solid. The finding is a comparison between your own directions: if your thumb is fifteen degrees worse towards one corner than towards another, that gap is in your hand and it survives whatever the game does with the input afterwards.
