Endings · Patch 2.31 · Checked 26 September 2026

Every ending runs through one rooftop

6 endings, 5 of them with an achievement, and 4 Phantom Liberty outcomes that decide whether The Tower is one of them. All of them are settled in one conversation in Nocturne Op55N1 — by what you did long before it.

The secret ending

Three answers, not a 70% meter

The forums still repeat that Johnny’s relationship has to reach 70%. The wiki’s record of the game says no threshold is needed: what opens (Don’t Fear) The Reaper is how the talk at the end of Chippin’ In goes.

  1. At the grave in Chippin’ InAt the grave: tell him he messed that up too, ask what he wants from you, then agree this is his last second chance. Starts Blistering Love and opens the secret ending.
  2. On the rooftop in Nocturne Op55N1Choose nothing. Wait about five minutes, until Johnny offers a plan of his own.
  3. Accept itV and Johnny walk into Arasaka Tower alone. If V dies, the credits roll as if it were the end — there is no retry inside the mission.
  4. In MikoshiThe body back to V is The Sun, with Rogue alive in the epilogue; letting Johnny keep it is Temperance.
Ending by ending

The steps, the quests, the catches

Mikoshi is described by what you choose there — whether the body goes back to V or Johnny keeps it — because which of the two walks where changes with the route.

The Devil

Arasaka

Hanako’s help, then a choice in orbit: become an engram or go back to Earth with months left.

Route: HanakoAchievement: The Devil
  1. Keep Takemura alive in Search and Destroy — only the achievement needs it.
  2. On the rooftop, call Hanako.
  3. Take the blockers Misty and Vik offer.
  4. Finish Where is My Mind? on the orbital station.
  5. Sign Arasaka’s contract to become an engram, or refuse and go back to Earth with months to live.

Quests on the wayLast CaressTotalimmortalWhere is My Mind?

  • Without Takemura there is no Arasaka support and Oda does not appear; Anders Hellman makes the offer in orbit instead, and the achievement does not unlock.
  • Going back to Earth is the ending where a relationship with River or Kerry continues.
The Star

Leave with the Aldecaldos

Panam’s clan storms the tower; V takes the body back and leaves Night City with them.

Route: PanamAchievement: The Star
  1. Finish Panam’s side job Queen of the Highway.
  2. On the rooftop, call Panam.
  3. Take the blockers.
  4. In Mikoshi, let the body go back to V.
  5. Finish All Along the Watchtower.

Quests on the wayWe Gotta Live TogetherForward to DeathBelly of the BeastChangesAll Along the Watchtower

  • The ending that continues a relationship with Panam or Judy, who leave Night City whatever you choose.
The Sun

Legend of the Afterlife

V takes the body back and stays: the Afterlife’s biggest name, with a job in Crystal Palace.

Route: Rogue, or the secretAchievement: The Sun
  1. Finish Rogue’s Blistering Love — or give Johnny his second chance at the end of Chippin’ In for the secret route.
  2. On the rooftop, follow Johnny’s plan to Rogue — or wait about five minutes for his own plan.
  3. Take the pseudoendotrizine: Johnny drives the assault.
  4. In Mikoshi, let the body go back to V.
  5. Finish Path of Glory.

Quests on the wayFor Whom the Bell TollsKnockin’ on Heaven’s DoorChangesPath of Glory

  • After the secret route Rogue is still alive in the epilogue — the only way she appears in Path of Glory.
  • The ending that continues a relationship with River or Kerry.
Temperance

Johnny keeps the body

V crosses into cyberspace with Alt; Johnny walks out of the tower in V’s body.

Route: Panam, Rogue or the secretAchievement: Temperance
  1. Open Panam’s or Rogue’s route, or the secret one.
  2. On the rooftop, take that route.
  3. In Mikoshi, let Johnny keep the body; V goes beyond the Blackwall with Alt.
  4. Finish New Dawn Fades.

Quests on the wayChangesNew Dawn Fades

  • Johnny walks out of Night City in V’s body. Every relationship V had ends here.
The Tower

The neural matrix

Reed’s surgery saves V’s life and takes the chrome with it: a quiet, ordinary life after Night City.

Route: Reed (Phantom Liberty)Achievement: The Tower
  1. In Phantom Liberty, end with King of Swords (give So Mi to Reed) or King of Pentacles (side with Reed and refuse Songbird).
  2. Accept Reed’s offer when he makes it.
  3. Call Reed — in Who Wants To Live Forever or on the rooftop in Nocturne Op55N1.
  4. Finish Things Done Changed.

Quests on the wayWho Wants To Live ForeverThings Done Changed

  • The epilogue changes with the Firestarter path: if the NCX spaceport was attacked, tensions two years on point towards another corporate war.
  • A reunion with Kerry some time afterwards is the one relationship this ending can keep.
Path of least resistance

Toss the pills

V refuses every way forward on the rooftop. The screen cuts to the city and a single shot.

Route: The pills
  1. On the rooftop, pick the first option and tell Johnny you could put all this to rest.
  2. Toss the pills.
  • No achievement. The game treats it as V’s death and reloads your last save before the rooftop.
Phantom Liberty

Four kings, two of them keep The Tower

Firestarter splits the expansion between Songbird and Reed. Each side ends two ways, and only the two that leave Reed’s offer standing open The Tower in the main game.

Sided with Songbird
King of Wands

Side with So Mi, carry her to the shuttle, kill Reed when he confronts you.

Closes The Tower
King of Swords

Side with So Mi, then give her up to Reed when he confronts you.

Keeps The Tower open
Sided with Reed
King of Cups

Side with Reed, then do what Songbird asks in Somewhat Damaged.

Closes The Tower
King of Pentacles

Side with Reed, then refuse what Songbird asks in Somewhat Damaged.
