Fortnite input lab

A Fortnite control lab for controller range, deadzone, mouse delivery, keybind conflicts and platform-aware input checks.

Mode contextBuild / combat / UIControl options and conflicts can depend on the active mode.

Tune controller deadzone in two layers

First measure what the browser receives while the stick rests untouched. Then translate that normalized observation into the game’s visible scale and confirm both idle stability and deliberate micro-movement in a safe environment.

A larger deadzone can hide movement while also delaying aim. The smallest value that remains stable across repeated recenters is usually a better starting point than copying another player.

Repeatable checklist

  • Run two untouched center samples
  • Approach center from opposite directions
  • Validate idle and micro-movement in game

Keep platform support claims sourced

Epic documents separate mouse/keyboard and controller settings paths on PC and console, and notes platform-specific limits. Keymap’s compatibility finder links the source and verification date instead of maintaining an unsourced yes/no list.

If prompts switch unexpectedly, first identify which device is still producing events. The live mouse, keyboard and gamepad labs can expose a noisy secondary device before settings are reset.

Repeatable checklist

  • Open the relevant input settings tab
  • Disconnect unused input devices
  • Recheck after one controlled change
Game-specific boundary: Fortnite settings and platform behavior can change by mode and update. Verify the current in-game labels before applying a scaled result.
Do not lose the baseline

One change. Same test. Clearer answer.

Keep the device, connection, platform, game build and previous setting beside every result.
