Can your board actually play Factorio?

Every default bind, re-scored against the keyboard you own. Distance is measured from the left hand resting on WASD, because that is where it stays while you play.

On a 60% board Factorio loses 2 keys. Numpad Plus and Numpad Minus are not on that board at all — so larger / smaller tile area has nowhere to live until you rebind them. Do that before the first match rather than during it. How that compares with every other game.

Quick answers

What are the default controls in Factorio?

W, A, S and D move and the mouse wheel zooms. The left mouse button builds, or opens a machine when your hand is empty, and the right mouse button mines. E opens the character screen with your inventory and crafting, R rotates, Q is the pipette and empties your hand, F collects items from the ground and Z drops one. 1 to 0 are the quickbar slots, Space shoots, Enter gets into a vehicle, Tab or M opens the map and T the technology tree.

How do you rotate buildings in Factorio?

Press R. It turns the item in your hand before you place it, and it turns a building you point at after it is placed. Shift + R rotates the other way, and H and V flip a building or a blueprint horizontally and vertically.

How do you mine and pick things up in Factorio?

Hold the right mouse button on a tree, a rock or an ore patch to mine it by hand, and on one of your own buildings to take it back into your inventory. Items lying on the ground are collected with F. Hand mining is slow; a burner or electric mining drill placed on the ore patch does it for you.

How do you copy recipes and settings from one machine to another in Factorio?

Point at the machine you want to copy and press Shift + right mouse button, then point at the next one and press Shift + left mouse button. It carries an assembler’s recipe and the settings of most other machines, and the copy stays until you take another, so you can paste it onto as many machines as you like.

How do you copy and paste in Factorio?

Press Ctrl + C and drag over the part of the factory you want, then press Ctrl + V to hold the copy and click to place it. Ctrl + X cuts instead: it copies the area and marks the original for removal by construction robots. Shift + mouse wheel steps back through earlier copies, Alt + B makes a blueprint you can keep, and B opens the blueprint library.

What does the Alt key do in Factorio?

It turns on Alt mode, a toggle that draws each assembler’s recipe and each chest’s contents over the factory. Press Alt again to turn it off. When someone else’s screenshots show icons on every machine and yours do not, this is the difference.

How do you change keybinds in Factorio?

Open Settings › Controls, from the main menu or with Esc in a game. Click the binding next to an action and press the new key. Each action takes a main key and an alternative one.

Can you play Factorio on PC with a controller?

Yes. Steam lists Factorio with partial controller support, including DualShock and DualSense pads. Partial means some parts of the game still expect a mouse and keyboard.

What are the Factorio controls on Nintendo Switch?

The left stick moves and the right stick looks. A builds and opens machines, Y mines, X opens the character screen, B empties your hand or works as the pipette, and R shoots. ZR held with A builds a ghost, L opens the quick panel, + is the menu, − the map and ZL with − the technology tree. ZR with X gets you in or out of a vehicle, and pressing the right stick frees the cursor.
